Call your Congressman. Get them to sign the discharge petition. |

Congressman Campbell, you are my Congressman. Please tell me you will sign the discharge petition. |

Unfortunately, this Congress - at least the majority of the members - have been extremely active but in a negative way: They have harmed the United States almost beyond repair; They voted themselves several raises; They gave their constituents the finger many times by totalling ignoring their concerns and practically their very existence; The Democrats became Socialists while the Republicans became Democrats; The Republicans betrayed their party's principles and ignored their constituents concerns - particularly about illegal immigration; Many Republican congressmen are bailing before the elections; This Congress has spent more money than any other in history putting us into extreme debt - bankrupt in many ways; This Congress puts in less time working than any other in history; This Congress does nothing and the Democrats in particular only block, blame and seek revenge; This Congress blames all their inactivity and craziness on Bush and leaves it at that; This Congress continues to blame all their ineptness on Bush; The President can only vetoe or sign bills, he cannot do near the harm Congress blames on him - Congress is to blame! Most of this Congress should hang their heads in shame - the Democrat heads should hang much lower than the Republican heads. |
This fall you will have the opportunity to apply term limits to Congress. 435 Representatives and 33 Senators are up for re-election. Apply term (termination) limits and do not vote for any incumbent. Disrupt the usual 90%+ re-election of incumbents. We as voters give Congress an approval rating in the area of 22% and yet we re-elect them more than 90% of the time. Who is at fault here? we are! Change the way we do things and vote out the incumbent. Send a message to the overly powerful due to Congressional seniority and special interest connections.
In addition, push to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment of 1913, that took the power of the Senate from the control of the States and gave it to the populace and thus left the Senate to be just like the House. http://brokengovernment.wordpress.com |
Agreed and I will do that. The problem is that everyone wants the "other" guy or gal to get rid of his or her incumbent and won't reciprocate. |
With stories like this it is amazing the lefty trolls try to make hay with Bush's approval ratings. This is a clear demonstration of why Congress as a whole is held in much lower esteem than President Bush. Thank you Rep. Campbell for getting this out there! |
Campbell, you are a member of this "do nothing" Congress. Why don't you do what you can do to get the votes needed for oil exploration, etc.? If you can't get it done, don't blame it on the majority, just go back to the private sector. Government needs to be a part-time job. Meet 4 times a year with the exception of national crisis. All you get is a stipend for the time spent in D.C. I can't wait for 15 years from now when Social Security is in the gutter and these guys start whining. If Congressional Repubs had half the spine of Bush, they would have backed his Social Security plan. But no, might as well "do nothing." Don't want to risk getting voted out. |
You must be kidding. Everyone was jumping all over Bush because he never vetoed anything! Then, when he vetoes a few Dem bills because they either put too many changes in it or because they tacked on billions of frivolous spending to it, everyone cries that he vetoes everything! Amazing. |
It's what they DO that causes problems. You can't pass McCain-Kennedy-Bush amnesty bills when with this Congress and that is a major improvement. We got a taste of what Republican majorities produce and we really didn't like it. Now we have to deal with Shoeless John, the Democratic Party Trojan horse that Democratics elected as the GOP candidate. That's what happens when you chase your base out of the party and don't have enough members left to prevent the opposing party to nominate the candidate that THEY want. Nose-holding just won't do it this year. We need to clean house. |
The reason the Dem-controlled Congress does nothing is that they learned a valuable lesson. Remember how Clinton ran as a moderate, and then wehn he won governed from the left. The people then voted in majorities of Republicans in both Houses in order to rein him in. The Republican majorities helped Clinton a great deal.
The Democrats could have helped Bush in much the same way, but they were too worried that he would get the credit, so instead they have done all they could to make him look bad. It is what they do, apparently.
The thought of socialist liberals in charge of all three branches of the government is enough to give me a full-body shiver!!!!! |
You would be much more persuasive if you applied your moral outrage consistently. You only apply your morality against the Republicans and never against the Democrats so your moral convictions are not rooted in morality at all. You are just a liberal tool just like the Pince Nez RINOs are GOP tools. Try attacking Republicans instead of conservatives. We've been kicked out of the GOP. |
You are just a liberal tool for the Democrats just like the Pince Nez RINOs are liberal tools for the GOP. |
For showing me the light.I get it now,it's the right wing conspiracy(gee I never heard that before). All of Americas'problems past present and future are due to the evil GOP,GW and the complaisant right wing news media.Dems bear no responsibility they are infallible that you have converted me would you please leave me in peace so I can enjoy watermelon month. |

http://www.columbiacountyrepublicanparty.org/ Cut and paste into address bar, pass it on. NO PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN CAN SURVIVE THIS... |

Neither ideology has brought us closer to True Energy Independence...
Conservatives tout the need to more domestic drilling & refinery as a solution when:
1. A continued effort to drill for non-renewable fuel sources that have reached "Peak" is just dumb. Why invest in a downward trend? Without attempting to speculate about the motive, it is simply not a well reasoned argument. The production capacity of these potential oil sources will generate on average 2-3 more mb/day, approximately 25% more than the US currently produces, however, the lower demand for OPEC sources will likely lead to reduced production and higher prices, offsetting any real benefit.
2. Refinery Growth: US Refineries currently produce 17 mb/day, of the 20 mb/day we consume. We DO NOT suffer from a lack of Refining resources. This argument is false by any measure, yet, Conservatives will blindly repeat this OPINION until it has been sufficiently established as FACT.
Liberals support Alternative Sources, however, they fail to articulate a strategy which does not involve Federal Government control.
1. Win-Fall Taxation: Establishes an Anti-Capitalist practice, as it accepts & promotes the premise that Success has Limitations. If Liberals believe that Energy Independence is a National Security issue than they should promote a campaign which provides the incentive to develop alternatives, not apply punitive legislation against various industries.

Learning is great but what is the source of the learning!
The United States have the largest coal reserves of any country in the world. Enough to last many years. If we just found a way to extract oil for coal, it would serve to resolve many of our oil dependency problems.
But you know what would happen. The coal companies would export the product to China, India and whoever would pay the most for it.
Greed is our main problem here and not resources. |
Sorry for the typos. The second paragraph should read: The United States has the largest coal reserves of any country in the world. Enough to last many years. If we just find a way to extract oil from coal, it would serve to resolve many of our oil dependency problems. |

Kenny Z.... Thanks
The Energy Information Administration (EIA), which compiles and publishes Energy statistics for the US Federal Government, is my primary source, however, there are additional sources (which I can provide).
With respect to Coal, while Liquefaction and other conversion techniques exists, they are quite inefficient (coal production having a thermodynamic efficiency of approximately 35-40%, the remaining product being waste), even when you consider emerging techniques like Supercritical Turbine (http://www.powergeneration.siemens.com/download/pool/PGE2005_BalancingEconomics.pdf)
Even if we did opt to rely upon future advancements in Coal Burning & Conversion technologies we will still remain significantly dependent upon Oil/Gas supplies. Investments in cleaner Energy sources like Coal is great for Electricity, however, in combustion-based hybrid automotive technologies, it appears to be a step backward.

While I concur on your assessment of today's failed energy policies, you have left out one important component of the conservative plan. That is nuclear power plants. For a comprehensive energy plan to work every one has to be on board. This of course can not happen in today's political climate. It is just common sense to maximize our oil output by drilling for new sources and building more efficient refineries. These measures would at least alleviate the choke hold foreign oil producers have on us.The new generation of nuclear reactors are efficient and safe there is no reason not to build them. In the mean time we could give government inducements for coal and other techno advancements.Tax incentives should be given to U.S. auto makers who can produce an affordable hybrid car. Oops sorry I got carried away ,all that common sense went to my head.I forgot about Ted Kennedy,Al Gore,John McCain,Kimberley and the UAWU! |

kettle callin pot "black."
It sure sounds like an "Afro-centric racist" to me.
Liberism/commie/leftist is a mental disorder.
Kimmy, get some treatment,...fast! |

SloanDog:
The figures reveal that we aren't in need of additional refineries, as we are currently refining 90% of consumed oil... Unless you were accounting for increases in Domestic Production.
With respect to maximizing oil production, our investments would yield a much better long-term benefit than Maximized Production of a Non Renewable Fuel Source. We currently consume approx 20 mb/day and produce 8 mb/day. The US would have to Explore, Drill and Refine more than 100% of its current output (of a Non Renewable Source) and avoid potential OPEC production decreases (price increases). There's no doubt that as the US began to rely less upon OPEC imports, in favor of Domestic Production (of a Non Renewable Source), Oil Prices will increase and likely offset any benefit from increased Domestic Production.
With respect to Nuclear Power, Your Right.

Your facts are interesting. Thank you. |

What about clean burning coal for some uses? |
Clean Burning Coal, hopefully defined by greater efficiency, should be a source of Electricity Production that we continue to leverage, as we explore Nuclear options (no war pun intended). One key advantage for Coal is that it possesses the potential for use in Transportation (beyond Commercial).
To advance though, we need to be candid about our circumstance regarding Oil, taking ideology out of the argument.

Like I said I'm a common sense type of guy.It seems to me the more oil we produce domesticly the less we are dependent on foriegn oil.I don't have the knowlege that you possess on this subject so you may be correct.Of course we will never know the answer because there is no leadership in this congress.I see that certain congressmen are leasing real gas guzzlers on our dime so why should they care. |
What about burning regular dirty coal and blow the smoke/fumes to China? (HaHa) (Just kidding!) |

You are dense as a post. Did you even read my comment? You'd never know it by your comment. |
surely wouldn't be a "TROLL", now would she Phil?....Hahaha. |

Dumb as a post? I'd venture to say dumb as a box of rocks. Or dumb as Pelosi, with is worse than a box of rocks.
Let's recap: terrorists for 9/11 entered country, and trained, during the wonderment of the clinton years. They were ALREADY here, and had been for quite some time. Clinton did zippo after WTC1. Fluff, fluff, fluff.
So, fast forward to a tad over a year and half ago, when te demo's took 'control'. Gas prices have soared since them. Food prices have skyrockted. Pretty much, they've done diddly squato that has meaning and substance. Have they lowered taxes? nooo. Have they solved the SSI problem that will explode in a few years? Nooo. have they done ANYTHING of note? Noooo. yet, they blame bush for it all. Don't drink the koolaide, kid. It's tainted. |

Save it for your local Union Hall. The folks on here aren't too busy watching Survivor to know your arguments are based on garbage. A toothpick's width worth of knowledge and reading pokes through the depth of your argument. You reak of moral relativism. Your sense of history is completely garbled due to the measures of your rigged scale.
Honestly, you are a complete waste of space here. If you want to embrace socialism, great. Go for it. But come back after you've actually learned how to pose a competent argument. |

Can you please tell us who runs this country today and are screwing it up as I speak to you?
Your DO NOTHING DEM LED CONGRESS and what has happened since the CSAR NANCY Promised us that ^THERES A NEW CONGRESS IN TOWN. NADA, ZILCH, NO A DAMN THING but havea lower RATING THAN THE POTUS.
Since taking over Cpongress this DO NOTHING DEN LED CONGRESS haS only passed the MINIMUM WAGE HIKE and made illegals richer.
Gas Prices have almost doubled Inflation has gone wild. Spending has doubled The TROOPS are still in IRAQ, This was one reason the DEMS won the election and DUH. DEMS care more about5 prosecuting Sports figures than passing POSITIVE LEGISLATION
SO PLLLLLEEEEAAASSSEE find another excuse for your LAZY ARSE DO NOTHING DEM LED CONGRESS.
When will YOUR DO NOTHING DEM LED CONGRESS get off their sorry arses and lead this country?
OOOH OOOH Can I answer that one teacher?
NEVER
You are in dire need of and enima to wash out that BDS you have shoved so far up your DEMS ARSES.

Small correction Chuck. The Dems took over congress because not because of the war, but because the Republicans betrayed their oath of fiscal responsibility.
As far as our comrade Kimmie, the last time the Dems controlled all three branches, we had double digit inflation and interest rates with the average unemployment rate pushing 10%.
What has happened since the Dems have taken congress? Inflation has taken off with record gas and food prices and food riots (we can't drill for oil, build refineries, mine the shale-oil in the Rockies, use nuclear energy nor use wind power-it screws up Teddy's view in Massachusetts). We see how well diverting all our food to ethanol is working. What's left? Oh, living like f'n cavemen that's what. God help us if the Dems get more power.
More historical facts. The last time we had a major economic crisis, the Dems controlled the WH and Congress and what happened? Over a decade of economic squalor under FDR who did nothing but higer taxes and increase the size of government with obsolete programs that still exist today. 1929 to 1941 with nothing improving until a war brought us out of the economic malaise.
What are the Dem's solution to this slow down to the unprecedented economic boom we have just experience? They want BIGGER Government and HIGHER taxes.
