Sorry folks, the polar bear will survive drilling. The wolves will survive. The envirnoment will survive. Time to buck up, step up and start taking care of our own.
First step: McCain/Romney 08.
Second step: voting out Peolsi and crew.
Third step: building refinerys
Fourth step: Drill for our own, and not for export.
Fifth step. Stop using our food supply for gas. Bad move.
Sixth step: Come up with a real energy plan that keeps us off the foreign oil. |

Granted that the rise in oil prices has little to do with the 110th Congress, but much of this is a result of the failure of the GOP to stick to the ideas and principles that put them in power in the first place. They went native with the liberals once in power and are now out of power trying to win the White House with a candidate the Democrats nominated for them. If we are not drilling in ANWAR or building refineries or expanding alternative energy capability to reduce our dependency on oil imports, where was the GOP leadership? Where is it now?
For now, it would help if the Fed stopped lowering rates, if the Treasury would stop printing money recklessly and everybody would simply stop bailing everybody out. The falling dollar is the main culprit and that is because capital is fleeing America's economy since we are determined to accomplish further gains in productivity on the backs of imported cheap labor instead of innovating our way forward. Cheap labor is the enemy of innovation. How do you invest in indentured servitude anyway?

When we all were in grammar school we probably learned a little something about supply and demand. If you watched Bush's press conference the other day it is clear that he knows what the problem is. We need to be more of supplier of oil. That means drilling more and refining more. Gas prices are affected by many things including supply, demand, travel from refinery, etc. While we are building towards alternative fuels we need to get more supply in the U.S. Of course Congress would rather have inaction than action. With action they couldn't continually waste our time and money by having hearings with oil execs and idiotic campaign promises about gas prices. And while I enjoy Congressman Campbell's blog writing, it may be time for GOPers in Congress to get off the stick, stop writing about solutions, and get the votes needed to drill and refine. Or maybe it's just time to get all incumbents, who can't get it done, out of D.C. The same can be said of immigration, nuclear energy, and health care. Stop talking and start doing, or go back to your private sector life. |

Ever since Carter's administration we have known that we needed other sources of energy. What did our government do? Nothing, we have no energy policy that is actually logical. Ethanol at the time was said not to be the answer as it would destabilize food sources. Did anyone in our government listen? Actually, sugar cane would have been a better choice for a renewable fuel .... We do have other sources of energy, i.e. nuclear, methane, geothermal, wave action, solar, wind, drilling for oil in Anwar, off our coasts. Has our government done anything except prevent any of these to be developed? Kennedy even prevented wind power off the coast of MA. Instead of blaming the oil companies how about blaming our own government and get them to actually do something. They could stop ethanol production in its tracks and just pay off the farmers/producers as they did with the bankers, that would make food prices stable. We should concentrate on nuclear, oil drilling, new refineries, methane, wind, the list goes on and on. Tax credits for incentives to actually get these things up and running. If we can put a man on the moon in ten years, we certainly have the know how to get off foreign oil in five years and use our own sources. Government is the problem not the oil companies... |

Yes Congress's approval is lower than the Presidents because she is Speaker of the House( trying not to burst out laughing while I type) and the Democrats hold the barely majority.
She is ineffective as a leader. Thats why she can't effect change. She has no plan. Simple. No plan. But she'll spout off about the price of fuel here and then make a trip to visit a known terrorist leader in the middle east against our State Department advice and the administration. And against the law. What a lack of respect. I despise her. Detest her as much as I do Carter. She's your typical activist gone politics nobody.
