Late at night, a new earmark was snuck into the Defense Appropriations bill. It is $3 million for a golf school for minority children. That's right. $3 million of your tax money to teach kids to play golf......out of the DEFENSE budget. The earmark was put in there by James Clyburn (D-SC). Not coincidentally, the money will go to the James E. Clyburn Golf Center. I'm speechless.

Golf is....
...sinful and a waste of good horse pasture.
Golf is the only socialized sport in America. Even "Rio Linda" has a municipal, taxpayer subsidized, public golf course. I'm expecting a "Karl Marx" brand of golf clubs. If the US spent all the money that it squanders on Golf, there would not be a health care crises.

Well-stated, Bucko!
Who knew? Thanks to TH.com for revealing this to us! Where Speaker Pelosi's comment on ANY of this? It is HER Congress, after all, and someone from HER party is responsible for the earmark!

I don't believe it!
A congressman speechless? No way.

What's Clyburn's handicap?

Truth in spending
What this country needs is a little more "truth in spending." EVERY earmark, EVERY stinking piece of pork, AND the Senator or Representative who proposed it should be extremely public, easily accessible and easy-to-read information. And then constituents need to do one heckuva lot of communication with their so-called elected representatives.

Congress For Pork
Is John bing a little dieenginuis here? Congress voted The House voted 361-54 to override the president’s veto on the water projects bill that would authorize $23 billion for nearly 900 projects across the United States. THATS 361 TO 54.

The senate voted for the bill by a margin of 79-14. Only 12 Republicans voted against it. 12. yes 12.
