Last night Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was unable to come up with the necessary votes in order to pass the Omnibus Appropriations Bill for 2009.  Why you ask?  Earmarks and oversized spending.

Senator Reid, who has 58 Senators on his side of the aisle, was unable to garner the necessary votes in order to cut off debate, in fact was unable to sway the coax enough Republican support for the bill, and actually saw a few from his side of the aisle switch sides.  Needless to say this is major victory for fiscal responsibility.

So what happens next?  Today the House and Senate will pass a Continuing Resolution to fund the government at its current levels.  Then next week Congress will likely be debating this bill once again.

Either way, President Obama should veto this bill unless the nearly 9,000 earmarks are taken out.  It’s time for President Obama to exercise the fiscal discipline we so commonly hear him talk about.

Wow! mark the calendar...
...a bipartisan force of senators stood up against the god emperor! It is a historic day, indeed!

But I thought that the emperor won and was therefore entitled to his spoils. What happened?

Most likely, though, the RINO and dem senators in opposition did not receive enough earmarks of their own.

Liberals never practice what they preach. It's more like, "it's OK for me", but not for thee. Or, "do as I say, not as I do" mentality that we see daily right here in the comments sections by theleftie trolls that are ever present (for whatever reason).

"...and be done with the asinine irrelevant Party's obstructionist dithering." ~ Waylaid

"The omnibus spending bill, which wraps in a number of spending bills not passed in 2008, opens up trade and travel to Cuba, a move that incited the ire of Cuban-born Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., and Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., whose state contains a large number of Cuban-born Americans opposed to lifting the embargo."

"Menendez, who favors the current embargo, as well, said in a floor speech on Monday that the provisions are "so deeply offensive to me and so deeply undemocratic that it puts the omnibus appropriation package in jeopardy despite of all of the other important funding that this bill would provide." ~Fox News

You have to marvel at these liberal troll twins and how ill informed they are.

his gestapo propaganda, because Communism is now at our door. If the Democrats get these laws (below) past, no one will be allowed to work in this country, unless they belong to a labor union! All the hiring and firing will be done by the unions, not the employer.just as it was with the Communist Party. Not afraid yet, have someone check your pulse, you may be dead already!

Those who are elected to "tell you whether or not you can keep your job", will be elected by "open ballot" or otherwise known as "Check Card", which means, those who told you whom to vote for (I remember when this was the "law of the land" and a lot of good people were destitute, because they refused to "yield to gangsterism"), will know how you voted, so they can "remove you from your job", if you didn't vote as you were told!
See, with Communism they just shoot you.

Obama needs to stop preaching Pt. 2
With "Mandatory Unionization and Check Card" they just throw you out in the street (if you don't vote how they tell you) and your family starves, because you are destitute and you won't be able to get another job anywhere. Uunder this law (the Democrats have assured the unions they will pass), the unions control "all" of the job hiring in the country! If you can't see
"totalitarianism" coming, perhaps it's time to get a pair of glasses. In Colorado, the first "hurdle" has already been passed, to this "New Brand of Communism", when a "Right To Work Law" was voted down, (after deceptive ads were run repeatedly, at the direction of the big labor unions and Democrat politicians) in the November elections. America is in a lot of trouble and I hope the majority can see it before it's too late! Times are going to be tough for the next 10 to 20 years and if labor unions control all the jobs, as it was during the "Great Depression of the 30' and 40', no one works except by approval of the unions! People with a brain should be appalled at what else was demanded/required of them, as a "condition to remain employed"! People were forced to do/commit things that were repugnant to them or else, you get the idea, just to keep their jobs! It's coming HERE soon, if the citizens don't resolve to stop this "heinous act" from becoming the "Law of The Land"!
Say, "Thank you Comrade Obama"

This show we the people how little regard he feels for the TAX payers and even those who are on welfare. One thing is funny, he cranks up the heat on The White House that is heated with COAL, yet he wants to shut the coal industry down, and thousands will loose jobs, and our energy costs will be so high, we won't be able to pay for them.Wait till he turns on the Air Conditioning. He is definatly living the life of " do as I say, not as I do" Hypocrite...

Hey Vlad, got facts?
Here is part of the transcript of the presidential debate where he said he would go line by line:
2008 first presidential debate, at Ole Miss: on Government Reform
Source: 2008 first presidential debate, Obama vs. McCain Sep 26, 2008

Barack Obama: Eliminating earmarks isn’t enough; but I’ll check every line
McCAIN: Obama suspended requests for pork barrel projects after he was running for president. He didn’t happen to see that light there in the first three years as a member of the US Senate. Obama [says the earmark total of] $18 billion is not a lot of money. Do you know it’s tripled in the last five years? Do you know it’s gone completely out of control, to the point where it corrupts people? It corrupts people. That’s why we have people under federal indictment and charges. It’s a system that’s got to be cleaned up. I have fought against it.
OBAMA: Nobody is denying that $18 billion is important. Absolutely we need earmark reform. And when I’m president, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely. But the fact is that eliminating earmarks alone is not a recipe for how we’re going to get the middle class back on track.

He doesn't say he's going to get rid of earmarks, does he? He told Pelosi and Reid he didn't like all the earmarks in the omnibus bill, didn't he?

Did anyone watch "West Wing"?
Barack Obama's camp"aign was "West Wing" writ large. Instead of Bartlett for America" it was "Hope and Change". We never got any policy statements from him other than "Hope and Change". Everything he said in the debates was contradicted elsewere in speeches (e.g look at his gun rights in PA vs. his speech before liberals in SF about "clinging to their guns". In fact his supporters denied his past actions: e.g. the born alive act in IL he stopped; yet his supporters made excuse after excuse for what was a position which is so anti-child and generally immoral that the nation should have risen up and ridden him out on a rail rather than making him President.

You are not going to see anything out of him other than being a poll-driven Socialist/Communist. The polls will also be of his base, not of the country. As he has already told the Republicans (who represent the 46% of the country which did not vote for him) that he won. He has surrounded himself with hard left people like Emmanuel and is going to try to make this country an "outcome fair" country. Which means that people will not have equal rights, but will have "adjusted rights" based upon what he wants to do to level the outcome.

No doubt in wingnut logic the half that aren't GOP compiled are the ones needing to be axed. If ever there was a need for ending the filibuster, the Party of irrelevance and stone-hearted obstruction makes that argument very clearly.

Why should he practice what he preaches? There is absolutely no incentive. He can do what ever he wants and the American public will re-elect him in a minute. Too many, too deceived to figure what is happening until it is too late.

Also, with half the US population dependent upon the government through jobs or assistance why would the majority ever want anything different?

On the campaign trail, Obama told us we are not going to be able to drive our SUVs and keep our thermostats at 72 and other countries are going to be OK with that. Its not going to happen. Then, in one of the first stories that broke after the inauguration, his Chief of Staff is quoted as saying Obama keeps the White House hot enough to grow orchids. So who among you actually expect him to practice anything that he preaches?
Harold writes: Monday, March, 09, 2009 5:11 PM
Obama and the Democrats...
...are incapable of practicing what they preach. They say one thing and then do another. To them, keeping campaign promises is dirty politics. Back when Newt Gingrich came out with the Contract With America, Democrats complained that Republicans kept the promises that they made, calling it dirty politics. One Democrat went so far as to say, "Making promise is one thing but to actually keep those promises is something else. It smacks of dirty politics." It's why, when a Democrat promises something I take it for granted that they are lying. I wouldn't believe Barack Obama if he said his name was Barack Obama. And, you know something? It probably isn't.

The truth is the messiah is not only a hypocrite but a status quo dim who fully supports tax and spend plans. Plus he acts the typical dim who is the lackey of the unions, the lawyers and the special interest groups and victim groups the dims owe their election victories to

But why should anyone be surprised by your attitude to support the messiah. The new racism is the dims holding the messiah to a lower standard of accomplishment and attacking any criticism of their savior as racist attacksThe truth remains the messiah is ill equipped to handle the job and will soon resort to the role of victim when he doesn't get his way.

In the meantime we see him living large, enjoying the perks of office and planning not only to grow gov't and give gov't an 8% across the board increase in spending while he lectures america they must cut back and make sacrifices.
