When will the Washington insiders get it?  Today, The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper reported about an earmark from Democratic Congressman Paul Kanjorski (PA), which the Department of Transportation (DOT) is actively opposing.

The earmark, from the 2005 transportation appropriation bill is for the construction of a $5.6 million parking garage next to…..the Kanjorski Center.  The reason for the obstruction?  It does not comply with federal rules, which state “only if they are connected to other public transportation facilities outside a business area with a population of 50,000 or more, or if it serves high-occupancy vehicles (HOVs) and public mass transportation passengers.”

The DOT has taken issue with more than 20 of Mr. Kanjorski’s earmarks in the past several years, and now the local communities have problems with Kanjorski’s earmarks, because they often benefit groups associated with his family members.

To top it off, the “Kanjorski Center” which was to receive the $5.6 million parking garage currently stands empty.  That’s right, no one occupies the building but Mr. Kanjorski feels it necessary to send your tax dollars to build a parking garage.

A “monument to me”, an unused building, a parking lot, family connections, and a rules violation…No it’s not a Hollywood blockbuster….it’s the United States Congress.

BLOW YOUR WHISTLES LOUD AND CLEAR
This kind of payoff has to stop now.

This man was elected to serve his state, not to fleece the United States.

Blow those whistles and don't stop blowing.

This man is stealing from all of us!

DC Politics = Shell Game
What is this, a game show? The press plays DC politics as some sort of rerun of Family Feud while this huckster has his own side show complete with a private shell game.

Rep. Campbell, you may not be making as many friends inside the beltway as out, but you’ll find many United States Citizens applauding you out on the fruited plane.

Well done, keep up the good work!

The oath
How does activity of this sort square with the oath to protect and defend the Constitution? Is there no legal way to bring these people up on charges?

Didn't Madam Pelosi give us her sacred word to end these practices?!?

Ammo up and get ready!

Victim of Kanjo
I'm from PA-11 and have lived with Kanjorski in office my entire life. Rep. Campbell, thank you for calling attention to his corrupt ways for those outside of Northeastern Pennsylvania to see.

Conservatives across the country need to support Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta this fall as he takes on Kanjorski. Thankfully, the people of Hazleton/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton are beginning to notice the wheelings and dealings Kanjorski is trying to pull in the House.

p.s. The Kanjorski building in downtown Nanticoke is a complete eye-sore and I can't even imagine where there's space to put a parking garage.

Keep spreading the news
congressman Campbell. Your efforts are appreciated.

I am sure Ms. Pelosi will be drawing on your expertise to combat this terrible practice soon. She promised to clean up Congress two years ago. I am positive she will begin this process very very soon.

Assuming she remains speaker for two more years, she will have that institution whipped into a lean mean tax raising machine. That is what is important to democrats. It is not where the money goes that matters. It can be tossed out the window. What matters is extracting the maximum out of each productive citizen that it can in order to crush capitalism and usher in their communist utopia. By falsely promising to take it from the rich and give it to any and every victim group that can be created and even some that cannot, they are assured of a sweeping electoral victory.
