Speaker Pelosi and President Obama are determined to socialize medicine and to permanently put 1/6th of the American economy in complete control of the government. But the American people don't want that, not a single elected Republican in Congress wants that, and a significant number of elected Democrats don't want that.

Pelosi needs to get 218 Democrats to vote for her bill. That means she can lose 39 Democrats, but no more. She is keeping Democrats in town "working" because she wants to keep trying to convince them to vote for her bill. She also knows that if they go home, most of them will hear the opposite message from their constituents. So, she keeps us all in town with busy work so that she can keep using carrots and sticks to get the votes for her awful bill. Don't underestimate the power of the Presidency and the Speakership to convince Members of Congress to vote their way.

And just what is in this bill? Well, having had it for only a short time, I can't tell you everything. But here are a few facts you may find interesting:

- It is 1990 pages long.
- It has about 400,000 words. That is 5 times the length in words of the Torah.
- It contains a government-run "option,” which will effectively not be optional over the next 5-8 years.
- It spends over $1 trillion. That amounts to over $2.2 million per word.
- It uses the word "shall" 3,429 times. So, 3,429 times it compels someone to do or not do something.
- But one place where it uses the word "may" is in reference to whether Members of Congress "may" join the government run system. So, much of the public will be forced onto the government-run system but we in Congress will not. (Do what I say, not what I do)
- It increases taxes on small business, wealthy individuals, all medical devices (including wheelchairs, bandages, and such), people who save for their own health care costs through health savings accounts, payroll taxes and anyone who does not buy health insurance.
- It authorizes government funding of abortions, which is not allowed under current federal law.
- Any state that has a limit on attorney's fees or punitive damage awards in malpractice cases (like California) must change that law to remove all limits or the state loses federal money under the bill. (blatant trial lawyer provision)
- And that's just the beginning.

This week is D-day week for this bill. You will receive updates from me during the week as news progresses.

I sincerely hope that all of us together can persuade at least 40 reasonable Democrats that there are much better ways to reform health care than this monstrosity.

Better not pass this
See, this bill is what we call an unlawful order because it violates far too many provisions of the Constitution. Therefore, it can be safely ignored. Which means any of you jackbutts attempting to collect monies or disenroll us from our chosen health care could be met with a surprisingly strong reaction. Just saying.

John, it also introduces the concept of,
State's Rights.

This is a relatively new effort by the Left---to engage such a concept, after all, they have never been ardent supporters of, States Rights in the past. It is their strongly held belief that the federal government "shall" remain in control over the rights of individual states.

Even more laughable in this 2,000 page piece is the idea of giving the states the ability to "opt out". Of course, if they do, they will forego all federal assistance. It is the ultimate incentivizing ploy, for them to jump on board the, Messiah's Gravy Train.

hey John
do you think "more" or "less" Rush Limbaugh will help your cause in persuaing these democrats?

The Bill will pass EASILY in the house-39 dems is not just wriggle room-that's an open doorway.
Too bad you fellows can't capitalize on it because no sane Dem no matter how blue wants to be seen in the same boat-err shipwreck-that is todays GOP.

Nice try, but forget it.

Why do you hate America so much?

This is poorly written, just like Crap and Tax is, yet you stupidly stand behind it because of your adoration of Princess P?

Thanks for helping to ruin the country. Idiocracy, here we come. (rent the movie to remind yourself)...

Serous question. Have you always been this stupid?
Exeye writes: Monday, November, 02, 2009 10:46 AM
You make a bill this complicated
and you Marxists can make it do anything. You don't even accept the definition of "is," so I can't wait to see how you absolutely twist this abortion into something so unrecognizable even you can't keep a straight face. Again, unlawful orders, those "shalls," and unenforceable. I hope you're stupid enough to try.

Iit is you that never has anything valid to offer. Like so many of your loony friends you fail to look at facts. One of the reasons that you guys hate Fox so much.

This bill will not be deficit neutral. As has been pointed out on numerous occasions the numbers are based on 3-5 years of additional tax collection prior to implementation. If one was to accurately score this bill, let me make this simple for you, if they scored it based on 5 years of expenditures and 5 years worth of actual collections the cost would be enormous. Even a simpleton like you should be able to understand that, but obviously we give you too much credit.

in other words the wing nuts now no longer believe the CBO which is just so convienent.

they dont lie; when things don't go their way they decide the numbers are wrong. The idiot you're talking to did the same thing with the DOW months ago-now not a chrip about that number-its no longer relavent due to the inability to use it against Obama.

A Pretty common and see through tactic.

So do some of that magic math Val and show us that 10 years of collections for five years of services works out over the long term. Show us just how the next ten years will add up. You know when they have to actually pay ten years of bills with ten years of income. Give us a detailed description of how that is going to work.

We will all wait for a detailed, sensible answer.

HAHAHA

Backpeddle? More like dig deeper!

Sarah "death Panels" Palin is another good example of that! these people love to double down on stupid.

Hey- politico had an article where they said Palin's facebook page had more sway than the enitre GOP leadership!

Yes libs are great with fuzzy math. I also love that they forget that states will be forced to add more to their medicaid rolls. Seems that most of the states are in a lot of financial trouble right now and have raised taxes to cover their already bulging over runs. Well just think aside from the great federal tax raises we will also see states raise taxes. So much for the 95%. Are these libs really this stupid?
MaineConservative writes: Monday, November, 02, 2009 11:41 AM
So, let me make sure I get this correct
We're going to pass a health care plan written by a committee, whose head says he doesn't understand it,passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn't read it, and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke.

What possibly could go wrong?
SJA writes: Monday, November, 02, 2009 11:44 AM
Hey Jax
Bush left a deficit of 440 billion. Now what is the new deficit projected for Obama and his plans. Trillions, oh gee wonder who spent more. You are really stupider than anyone thought. By the way tax cuts have always proven to help the economy, you do know that the more spendable income people or businesses have the more they pump into the economy and the more jobs are created. Oh you would not know that, only someone with a brain would.

Well said but certainly not something the loony left will question.

Funny how these morons want to talk about medicaid-hmmmm there nothing in the John Boehner approavd health care plan cutting medicaid costs-oh that's right these are from the same people who arl rove talked into getting on board with Medicaid part d and no child left behind because they would help with the ruling plan of the permament majority-they have no room to question anybody's intelligence as far as spending recklessly goes-the last eight years are not the model for fiscal conservatism even ignoring the war cost.

But that's the true nature of the beast they are the same people who would spend another trillion in iraq over spending once cent on social programs in the own country.

Sad and another reason why they voted out of power in 2006 and 2008.
Nee writes: Monday, November, 02, 2009 12:22 PM
Hey Useful idiots
Val and Monkey Girl
Why don't you fuc*ing read the bill instead of spewing what you know nothing about? Fox news has nothing to do with the useful idiots who follow the Pied Piper and his minions over the cliff with their eyes shut.

I have gotten through half of it, and so far there are no misconceptions from Fox.
Just because you two monkeys want socialized medicine, does that mean you follow it blindly? READ THE EFFING BILL.
Or not. Because the truth sure does hurt you, doesn't it?

Yeah Monkey
Utter nonsense that you will actually be paying as much as 26k per year in the future for "free" health care, hmmm?

This is because the law requires that young, middle class, relatively healthy people buy insurance which subsidizes the health care of the very ill. Similarly, the 2.5%-of-income penalties are also taxes, and are imposed under the Internal Revenue Code and enforced by the IRS.

For individuals earning over $44,000, there will be no relief to help them pay for the roughly $10,000 in premiums which even individuals will be required to pay. And families in the $88,000-$250,000 range, which Obama pledged not to tax, would experience annual “income transfer” insurance premium bills climbing to almost $26,000 -– again without relief. (courtesy of Michael Hammond)
What is income transfer, in essence? Re-distribition of wealth.
Yes, utter nonsense to you freaks who voted for the Pied Piper. You still don't get it.
