Stimulus Factoid: States, cities, and private companies from around the country are applying to get some of the $850 billion ‘non-stimulus package’ signed by the President last month. Many of the applications are unbelievable. West Virginia is applying for $380,350 to contact 160 landowners and encourage them to grow shiitake mushrooms and ginseng. By the way, that’s $2,377 per call to each landowner.

Omnibus Factoid: There’s $1.8 million to study and manage the odor from “swine manure” in Iowa. Look, I could never think of stuff like this to make it up. This is proof that sometimes, fact is stranger than fiction.

But...
The left believes these are valid ways to create jobs. (*cough, choke*).

They do not see the absurdity in this at all. They are wearing RCG's and fawning over the COW. And it doesn't matter to them if they have higher taxes...it's for the greater good. (cue Kumbaya)

On the other hand...
It sounds like the right wing is paying people to go through the spending bills/requests to find things that sound silly, and then publicize them without any further reading.

Classic example:

"There’s $1.8 million to study and manage the odor from “swine manure” in Iowa."

As has been WIDELY REPORTED, there is growing evidence that breathing vapors from swine manure can be hazardous to people's health. Seems to me it would be a good idea to investigate this.

I admit, it's a lot more fun to mock "swine manure."

Too Much Money for nothing
We need to focus.... what's the worst thing happening with our government today? This is my OPINION...
1. corruption
2. confiscating our wealth and the wealth of generations to come with their huge spending (I'm not sure people realize how much money is being spent.... Think of this, the TARP was around 750billion.... that's 750,000 mil..... there's around 300 million people in the US and approx 7 bil ON THE PLANET..... GOV'T COULD GIVE EVERYONE ON THE PLANET ONE BILLION AND HAVE 743BIL LEFT OVER) WE NEED TO REALLY TRY TO WRAP OUR HEADS AROUND HOW MUCH MONEY GOV'T IS SPENDING IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT'S SOOOOOOOOOOO DANGEROUS
3. The Constitution...who's upholding the "law of the land" who's protecting "the land of the free and home of the brave" why do we want gov't to interfere with OUR "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness"?

My suggestion would be to break off in small groups with a single focus and come together as a large group to further our agendas as a whole .....example One smal group may want to focus on the budget; it would be that groups responsibility to investigate the budget, where the money is going, how much, etc.... decide how we want to present our case....whether it be for ALL of us to send a bag of pork rinds to the WH or take a day off work or don't drive that day.... whatever we decide to make a physical yet peaceful statement. make sense? or am I just crazy

There's really nothing to say to that. Astonishing.

Too funny
Bob, you beat me to it.

"approx 7 bil ON THE PLANET..... GOV'T COULD GIVE EVERYONE ON THE PLANET ONE BILLION AND HAVE 743BIL LEFT OVER"

Hey Cat, what weighs more, a pound of rocks or a pound of feathers?

Liberal math
Lies, damn lies and statistics.Liberals nevr miss a chance to take a simple black and white truth and twist it.Once again you spent all those brain cells(careful, you all are running dangerously low on these)doing math instead of getting the point of the comment. You guys, you know your names, will love this one.The stimulis package gave two percent of the entire bill on "Green Jobs".pretty impressive, specially when three out of four of those jobs are going to be outsourced to foreign countries, because it was too expensive here!HELLOOOOOO
