I agree with you John, 100%. Every time I hear of yet another congressional hearing or whatnot I want to smash them in the heads with a giant cartoon style mallet! What is their stake in some guys getting HGH (which isn't even a steroid) or any other real steroids that play a game? I can see if they were taking drugs that gave them mutant powers outside the normal human capabilities. |

I agree but the Senate is even worse w/ the Judiciary committee looking into the Pats games from 2003 instead of confirming judges and enabling the military to bring the perpetrators of 9/11 to swift justice. To think that he is supposed to be on our side. |

More proof that these self-appointed micro-managers consider every aspect of American life their business. There is nothing upon which they will not seek to place their Seal of Approval.
Memo to Congress: butt out! |

As I watched the proceedings and saw the democrats line up behind the accuser (who has full immunity against any charges)- I was ill. First, this is the big change the dems brought - investigating MLB - phew, I feel better. Second, the only person with something to lose and no immunity, had to listen to the crud spewed by the dems and that ick. It is quite clear that RC believes he is right, the trainer is clearly a liar most of the time, and, unfortunately, it is also clear that the dems want to cut down anyone who is successful. I don't know if RC is a dem or repub but he should be sick that his congress is such a bunch of losers. Talk about a waste of tax payer money. Gack, gack - throw those bums out. |

What America witnessed today was Communists in our government tearing down an American Hero who teaches good work ethic and moral values to all who will listen and watch while he continues his silent walk in life as a model for all to follow. |

To get congressional democrats off his back, Roger Clemens should say that he did it so he could have sex with interns, it made him look younger, and/or that he was trying to give a hand up to an illegal immigrant trying to make a living bringing prescription drugs over the Mexican border. Now, if he could somehow say the 20 year old intern that he wanted to have sex with was a drug dealer who made her way across the border illegally, he will be home free with the democrats. |

I guess that a 20% approval rating is a little high for those idiots. They didn't for no other reason then to have TV cameras on them. Unfortunately, it must work for some people who continually send those commies back to Washington every election cycle. |

Our men and woman are dying in a war we all know is based on out right lies, if not done by treasonous acts and personal gain, our economy is failing, the dollar going down for the last count, people are losing their homes all across the country, torture, secret prisons, illegal wiretapping of Americans, police brutality all across the country, tasering innocent people, beating people, road blocks, borders wide open, 20 million illegals here, etc..... And our congress is doing what!!?
Having hearings on baseball players?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? |

Everything about this is wrong. Are we next going to see Feds asking actresses if they've had botox ? If they lie to the inquisitioner they go to prison.
The media and the congress bear a great deal of responsibility for making "sterioids" desireable for young athletes. A casual observer would likely conclude that hitting 60 home runs in MLB or getting 300 career wins is easy - if one consumes steroids or hgh.
Steroids, & HGH, are not magic. They allow ones body to endure and recover from extrodinary strenuous training. That's it. In a "simple" task for example, a dead lift or a bench press - it's a clear advantage. For a complex task - pitching and batting, it's advantage is not one of strength - but of the ability to recover from continuous repetitive training a competition. So do whirlpools, massages, mineral baths, and numerous other "unnatural" training techniques.
When Clemens, Bonds, et al were using these substances they weren't against the rules in baseball. I'll bet they were all acquired through legal perscription. So... they broke no rules, broke no laws, but some Fed Inquisitor asks them a question knowing full well there is no crime involved, and because they wish to maintain their privacy in the matter they must go to prison.
This is moving to the edge of totalitarianism. Are we getting near the day when we're asked if we "smoked" or had an extra donut - and a lie puts us in prison? It seems that we are. |
|
Sadly the leaders of Congress (Reid and Pelosi) have nothing to show America for their tenure. Instead, they would rather treat Americans to political theater - hearings on baseball.
I guess the only hardball guys like Waxman can play is by questioning legendary pitchers like Clements - as my money says Waxman couldn't throw a ball to homeplate from the pitchers mound with the wind at his back.
And to think... we Americans pay for this with our tax dollars. Nice. |
|
Yep, its what the American people want....look at the sheep voting for McCain, Obama, and Clinton... all memebers of this stupid congress. We can do nothing...we are stuck with this mess. |
|
Didn't they just walk out of congress today and then forced a scrample during a memorial service for Congressman Lanto's? This is why the American people are fed up with the right, they show themselves to be the dispicable people that they are, unless of course they are not being outted, hanging around public toilets or taking bribes. Absolutely sickening.

The Republicans walked out of Congress because the Democrats (after their wasting time and money on baseball) are scheduling for continued votes to condemn Presidential aides because some US Attorneys (at-will employees) were fired for not doing their job. And let's not mention the US Attorney General (the office responsible for enforcing "Contempt of Congress" citations) has already said they will NOT enforce citations when Executive Privilege has been invoked. These votes for citations are absolutely meaningless!!
Yeah - Democrat leadership is doing a GREAT job. Let FISA expire so we can cutoff our ability to intercept terrors communication ... and vote on meaningless politically-driven witch-hunt citations.
By the way... the floor your rolling around laughing has donkey dung all over it. Nice. |

You must be talking about William Jefferson (D) getting caught red handed taking a bribe. Or is it a reference to Jerry Stubbs (D) who got caught having anal sex with a 17 yo male intern? No wait. That is ok since he did not send any sexually explicit emails. Or are you referring to Cynthia McKinney who assaulted a Congressional police officer doing his job? Or is it a reference to a drunk who drove his car into a river and killed his mistress because he (Ted Kennedy (D)) was too stinking drunk to stay on the road and did not report the accident until hours later. Let's see. What do the Democrats do with their trash? They defend, reelect and protect it while at the same time condemning anyone doing the same things if the later oppose the Democrat's drive to totalitarianism. What do Republicans do? The get rid of the trash. Sometimes people are forced from office because of baseless Democrat lies. i.e. Tom Delay.

What is amazing to me is; who cares? Honestly, if Roger used it is his deal. Most of us love sports and did it just occur to congress why athletes can prolong their careers, why they are bigger and faster than ever and as sports fans, we pay for the entertainment. MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL,PGA are all thier own governing bodies. Let them deal with it!
Our country is in a recession right now. One of the major concerns; where is the accountability to all the lending institutions? The mortgage companies, underwriters, builders,Wall Street etc all knew this would occur. They made their quick fortune, now the country is paying for it! How do you approve a loan for 500k home on an annual income of 50K?
The point is, this is just another example of looking the other way and attempting to take the public eye away from whay really matters, accountability! Where was the regulation for the loans? What is the long term game plan? Make these folks extend the loans and lower interest rates. Congress, give me a break and get a life! |

President Bush asked the Senate on Feb. 7 to ratify an international agreement to fight the use of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in sports. See: http://www6.comcast.net/sports/articles/general/2008/02/07 /Bush.Anti.Doping/
Why it is considered a waste of time for Congress to hold hearings on this subject is a mystery to me. The fact that they would do so does not mean that Roger Clemens is Congress's #1 priority. And why are Republicans so defensive about Clemens anyway?? |
