The other day I blogged about my “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” Act.  I received an overwhelming response from groups like Citizens against Government Waste, Americans for Prosperity, the National Taxpayer’s Union, and Americans for Tax Reform.

This morning the “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth is Act” was featured in the Wall Street Journal.  For your reading pleasure I’ve included the text below:

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

The Tax Me More Act
April 11, 2008
Wall Street Journal, Page A16

We recently suggested that if Bill and Hillary Clinton are eager to pay more taxes, they should write a personal check to the U.S. Treasury to compensate for the lower tax rates they so frequently decry. And lo, here comes legislation to make it easier for the former first lady and other pseudo-populists to do just that.

California Republican John Campbell yesterday introduced in the House his "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Act," which would amend the tax code to allow individuals to make voluntary donations to the federal government above their normal tax liability. The bill would place a new line on IRS tax forms to make this easy.

Mr. Campbell says he has heard the "cries" of those wealthy Americans – Mrs. Clinton, Warren Buffett, Barbra Streisand – who reject the lower tax rates passed in 2001 and 2003 and complain that they and their fellow rich don't pay enough. "It's a great injustice that citizens wishing to fulfill their dream of paying more taxes cannot simply check a box on their 1040 form to make a donation," he says. His bill would give liberals a chance to salve their consciences without having to raise taxes on millions of Americans who already feel overtaxed as it is.

Still, don't expect many to take Mr. Campbell up on his offer. The Treasury already accepts voluntary donations to decrease the nation's debt; last year it received all of $2.6 million. Apparently even most liberals would rather keep their money, or bequeath their estates to charity rather than to the IRS.

I know the IRS will
accept all and more you want to send to them. Keep up the good work. I bet they'd even take money from some of the offshore accounts these Dems have.

Get a friend to talk you through this crisis, you obviously need to ventilate. So, tell someone who wants to listen, but stfu here. BTW, you are so off target that your insanity is palpable.

Hot Pat and Sanity vs, Insanity
No Pat...I do not think so. Insanity ....is supporting an endless "100 year" war that is sucking out the treasure of the USA at a final cost in the TRILLIONS.... costing American lives.....AND in which EVERY reason given for engaging in this war turned out to be a LIE!! Insanity is continuing in such a war even though it is destroying the prestige and influence OF THE USA.... all over the world....and is even opposed by your lovebale Pope!! Please get with the program Pat and really look and see which side is "INSANE". I may be ANGRY....but NOT insane. You too should be VERY ANGRY at what the Republicans have done to harm this country over the past 8 years here and abroad. A President who ought to be impeached for Torture....starting and still not ending an illegal...immoral war. Bush should be in a prison....THIS WOULD BE SANITY!!! And imgane...EVEN NOW.... we have a Congressman running around talking about $600,000 Pelosi lighting while Rome is going down hill in what will be the worst recession since the Great Depression...IN A MOUNTAIN OF BUSH DEFICIT SPENDING IN THE TRILLIONS.... INCLUDING THE ONLY WAR N O T TO BE FINANCED AND PAID FOR BY COUGHING UP THE TAXES TO PAY FOR IT but by a chicken President who is passing on the cost of his war to the NEXT GENERATION. Pat your thinking makes no OBJECTIVE SENSE. My points are all backed up by the facts....you just name call. I AM OFFERING TO DEBATE THE GOOD CONGRESSMAN ANYTIME ANYWHERE!!! Also the November election will help determine what the masses of people believe as to "who is insane"...right now your side should be very very worried!!!

Thanks,
Harry...a constituent with a valid view point!!

Psycho Left
Whenever I waver on my commitment to the GOP (and the GOP has earned some wavering), a sampling of the total insanity on the left brings me back home.

It has been repeatedly proven that the war was NOT based on lies. The Clinton Administration and the rest of the world had all the same intelligence data.

>>the Huge Huge Reagan Bush biggest President tax spending deficit fake Presidents in American history!!

LOL! That is not a logical discussion, but a stream of consciousness exercise from a VERY twisted mind.
