On the eve of this historic Inauguration, it is easy to recognize the impact this event will have on American History. Since the founding of our great Republic, Americans have always relished our most sacred of traditions…freedom. This is yet another display which will be viewed all across the globe, and allows us, as Americans, to display our commitment to our founding virtues.

I encourage all Americans to welcome our new Commander – in – Chief and President, Barack Obama. We may not always agree on policy, but we are united by our American tradition, culture, and patriotism.

May God Bless this President and May God Bless America.

"we are united by our American tradition, culture, and patriotism. "

Can you please define exactly what you mean by tradition, culture and patriotism?

Give me straight forward examples of each.

Or were ya just spouting off the good word, like Barry O?

Why would God bless his Chicago thug-ness? Why bring God into it, at all?

too bad you don't know the answers to your own questions.

Clearly you are a godless communist illegal immirgrant with no understanding of america, its people, or traditions.

Take your flag burning butt back across the border and rejoin to whatever hole you used to call home. We here, in the UNITED STATES, don't need you.

And beleive me you will not be missed.

You just put CIC and BO in the same sentence. Are you trying to make me puke?

Also, since when does socialism have anything to do with patriotism? Oxymoron.

You may be comfortable calling this America-hating racist "President", however my flag is neatly packed away; ready to be unfurled when a proud American is elected.

Nice words. Just words. Where was this plea for playing nice when the world was (and still is) talking major smack about our President, George W. Bush? No plea to play nice then. BHO is a poseur and a wimp. I have no respect for him or his Clinton retread cabinet. Low lifes and losers, all of them. Remember this is the US of A. Freedom of speech and all....

As far a obama's inauguration
I wouldn't watch one minutge of it for a thousand dollars, and will turn my television off until I think all the coverage has exhausted itself. And each and every time his face appears on the screen after that, I will turn the set off again. His voice will never permeate my space with deceitful lies and Socialist propaganda ever again.

I'm working tomorrow. When I get home I will be watching DVDs all tomorrow night. I will not even be watching O'Reilly on Fox News. I will not glance at the newspapers as well. I usually try to collect historically important newspapers and magazines, not this one though. Tommorrow will be a day that many Americans may come to regret. I will try to ignore it.
In my son's school, they are bringing the kids to the auditorium to watch Obama's inauguration. Funny, I don't remember them doing this during the last Bush inauguration.

The President...
Is only the Commander in Chief of the armed forces.

He is not our Commander unless we wear a uniform. If we do not, he is our servant, elected by us to carry out our will.

It is important to maintain that distinction, even in the middle of pomp and circumstances that more resemble the coronation of a new monarch than the appointment of the humble spokesman for America.

I too turn the channel when The Wimp is discussed or when he opens his stupid mouth. I've found that it keeps my blood pressure down.

As well, I am enjoying being able to sleep-in on Sunday's rather than wasting my time with the morning talk shows.

An aside: I've noticed that instead of showing an actual photo of The One, many news outlets have taken to showing an artist's rendering of the libs messiah. The difference? The renderings produced by the liberal propaganda machine shows the community organizer with a jaw. They also remove the limp wrist.

I'll bet that if the BO b*tt-kissers produced a full-size rendering of their messiah, it'd show him with testicles as well. It would be easy enough to Photo Shop: just find a conservative and put The Wimp's deformed face on it.

Presto! A man!

I am with you both. No TV for me tomorrow as I am mourning the death of our once great nation.

Plumber, my flag has not been packed up, instead it is flying at half mast and will be until this usurper is out of office.

I still have hope though, after 4 years this clown will be gone and then we patriotic people can restore this country to her former greatness (i.e. before liberalism took over).

Godspeed

I didnt vote for BHO either, but guess what, he's here for the next for years. Its our job as U.S. citizens to remind our representatives and President who they work for. Wishing ill of him also wishes ill of all Americans.

If you wanted someone else to be president then there should have been a better concentrated effort to put a viable candidate in place that could have out campaigned him.

Its time to move ahead. Keep the hear and now and future in focus and hold those we elected to office accountable.

Hitchens is right
“I know something for a sure thing,” Hitchens continued. “The demand for torture and other methods I would describe as illegal, the demand to go outside the Geneva conventions — all this came from below. What everyone wants to say is this came from a small clique around the vice-president. It's not educational. It doesn't enlighten anyone to behave as if that were true. This is our society wanting and demanding harsh measures.” Therefore, he went on, the demand for prosecution or other measures against Bush administration officials would likewise have to come from below, via the grassroots. “Otherwise it's just vengeful, I suppose, and partisan.”

Christopher Hitchens

Hitch is right on this. I disagreed with these methods, but they did come from demand from below. And the idea of prosecuting the Bush Administrtion for it is wrong becuase if it did come from below, a change in attitude would be really over the economy tanking not the use of these techniques.

Joe, I tend to lean your way
on this one.

I think Obama is a borderline Marxist and it's important that we don't bury our heads in the sand for 4 years and hope everything is better when we pull it out.

He's our president. There could be areas that we could support him (hard pressed at this moment to identify something) and certainly we have a responsibility to keep our voices heard so that our representatives can hold his feet to the fire.

Fasten your seat belts, boys and girls, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Re: Conservatives vs Bush. I suggest that you read a little closer, and a little more frequently. Or you could look at the GOP election results from '02, '04, '06, and '08.

Or look at GOP fund-raising over the past eight years. If "Bush Pesos" were legal tender, the GOP would be in fine shape. It's been a downward sprial for the GOP since Bush The Socialist was elected. Pi**ing on the base pi**ed off the base.

However, BO won't have any trouble out-socializing Bush. Watch and see.

Affirmative Action for Presidents
Remember when the Miss America pageant picked its 1st. black Miss America, Vanessa Williams. She had to step down due to some nude pictures turning up. However, the first runner-up was black and she became in a row several fairly average looking black women were chosen Miss America. Since it was obvious the pageant was a farce, people stopped watching, the ratings went down and it went from a Saturday night institution on NBC to cable.
I predict the same thing will happen to the Presidency after Obama. He will give amnesty to the illegal invaders and they will demand the first Hispanic President, then the Muslims, etc. The Democrats and the gutless Republicans will be happy to cave in to them.
With Obama and his less than 2 years experience in the Senate, becoming President tommorrow, the end for America is in sight.

There is only one country where the promise of individual liberty is placed into the contract between government and its citizens: The United States of America.

As we know, socialism is anathema to individual liberty.

It'd make more sense for you, as a socialist, to move to one of the myriad countries where state-sponsored slavery is more tolerated. Cuba and North Korea come to mind. I'd normally suggest Western Europe or Canada but they seem to have tired of socialism as of late.

United??
"We are united by our American tradition, culture, and patriotism."

Untruer words were never spoken.

We are DISunited by those things. The far left have successfully convinced much of the nation that they are disenfranchised, that American history is immoral, selfish, and imperialistic, and that we are now the scourge of the Earth.

Look for this to kick into even higher gear under the new administration, which is easily the farthest left that this country has ever seen.

The far left, which will settle for nothing less than the total transformation of America into a socialist haven where everyone is equally mediocre, has completely taken over the Democratic Party.

We are in BIG trouble.

To all those ranting about socialism, I hope you understand that you sound just as nuts as the people who harassed Bush for the past 8 years. Get over it.

And I find it pathetic that "socialism" wasn't a theme on the far right until John McCain decided it to be. Yes, to all those conservatives who despised McCain, you have to admit that he does have the power to control your political thoughts. How depressing.

You note that conservatives have been harassing Bush for his "socialism" for 8 years--then claim that "socialism" was not an issue with conservatives until McCain brought it up. You apparently know nothing about conservative thought or concerns.

One of the most fundamental battle of ideas between Coservative and Liberals has always been and still is Free-market Capitalism vs Socialism. And that is not going to change just because the Marxist mined Demorcats and a few of their soul-mates in the GOP currently have the American people by the throats.

True conservatives are never going to just
"accept" and "welcome" into the Presidency an ideological enemy of the stature of Obama. So maybe you are the one who should just "get over it."

Ever Hear Of Multi-culturism?
To John Campbell: You wrote: "we are united by our American tradition, culture, and patriotism."

In this day and age of indoctrinated and force-feed multi-culturism can anyone claim that we are united in tradition and culture?

And Patriotism? With Bidden defining "patriotism" as everybody stepping up to the plate to contribute more in taxes to defend our failing social programs? Surely you jest at your suggestion that we all be united behind that kind of thinking. Were that to be true then every patriot would use the short form to file their IRS reports this year. Is that what you intend to do? Do you think Obama is going to be that patriotic? I've got a good hunch that his designated Secretary of Treasure is going to avoid paying any tax he can--whether Bidden thinks it's unpatriotic of him or not.

So much for "unity".

But the fact is that he has the fewest qualifications for the office which he is to assume than any candidate in the history of this country. As well, he has the most radical associations of any candidate in the history of this country. If the media were honest, BO couldn't be elected dog catcher.
