We all care about the environment, but passing legislation like the Warner-Lieberman Climate Change bill will have very little effect on global warming.  However, the effect on a struggling economy would be devastating.

You have heard and will continue to hear Democrats talk about the unemployment rate and the need to pass extended unemployment benefits; all the while they will attempt to pass economy killing legislation.

They are either severely misguided in their judgment or this is just part of their plan to move everyone over to a government sponsored society.

Have to told this to McCain?
You lose all credibility by pretending that this is a Democratic party problem. You need to prove that there is another party and that it opposes this kind of legislation. Right now, McCain is the face and message of the GOP and he is coming across as the latest out-of-touch nutty Republican to run for Prez.

It's also a waste of time
If I stand outside in the rain with an umbrella ,I'm not stopping it from raining.

It's a big world. Not all of it is buying the "climate change" and if most of them do,money and progress will not stop in those countries who are beginning to get what we have had for many years.

Ta Da.

President Pasadena
I heard some of McCains comments from last night regarding the oil crisis and he was railing on how angry he was with the "big oil" companies for their obscene profits and that they aren't investing in alternatives to oil and to reduce carbon emissions. Uuuuggghhh!! Man, is this the best that the GOP can do? Scary!

Say No To Global Warming Legislation
Nothing good will come from these measures:

They will not stop, reverse or even slow down global warming, accepting the premise for this purpose that man-made global warming exists.

They will cause economic chaos if not calamity.

They will be useless in the face of China, India and other countries' growth.

They will only cause political divisions to widen.

They will not help me play golf in the winter (just kidding!)

GOOD NEWS
It's great to see this. More and more the truth is getting wide distribution. Old Cranky (aka: McCain) must be getting ready to blow a gasket with all the info coming out that C&T is a disaster in the making, AGW is bogus, and the illegals will immediately bankrupt government run health care when they get amnesty. Even if his team gives him the news, will he change his thinking? I guess we'll see.

No, this bill isn't necessary to stop "global warming". Either one of the two idiots running on the Stupid party or Evil party ticket will finish up destroying what is left of the US manufacturing economy that was started by Bush Sr. and carried forth all these years through all these administrations. Bi-partisanship at its finest.

500,00 jobs lost?
Well how bad can that really be since there are 12 million illegal aliens doing jobs Americans dont want to do?? Less jobs for illegal aliens? The destruction of our country is nearly complete, and maybe the climate will mercifully come in and put US out of our collective misery.

little or no environmental benefit
says the Heritage Foundation.

When the alleged problem does not exist, of course there will not be any benefit.

Except for Mr. Gore and his business in cap and trade credits awaiting the oceans of cash to rise and cover him.

Typical Democrat
"Pasadena Phil" is apparently afflicted with the condition virulent in the Democrat-Socialist party - an inability to comprehend fairly basic English. A product of the Democrat/NEA school system, no doubt.

NOWHERE in your article do you blame the Democrats for the problem. In fact - anyone with half a brain understands that Mr. Warner is a REPUBLICAN (actually RINO). Only in your statement...

"You have heard and will continue to hear Democrats talk about the unemployment rate and the need to pass extended unemployment benefits; all the while they will attempt to pass economy killing legislation." ...

do you state the obvious - that it is the Democrats who are wringing their hands over ancillary issues caused by the very legislation they propose!

Little wonder the Democrat-Socialist Party nominates the likes of an Obama - these people can't read - but they vote.

Saurus -

JOHN WARNER A RINO ??

And what have you done for this country, little man? Why don't you go and do something useful before you take a swing at a WWII hero like John Warner. He's done more for our country and the GOP than you can ever dream to do, and it's villainous little cowards like yourself who give our party a bad name when they throw their own filth at good men like John Warner.

Go repent, sinner and never ever do that again.

JOHN WARNER A RINO ??
But of course. What else would you call someone with an ACU rating of 60 out of 100 in 2007, a 64 in 2006. In school we called called that 'failing'.

By the by, your Congressman Campbell was graded an 88 in '06, kept his nose to the grindstone and came back with a 92 in '07.

Is eulogia_is_dead for real?
"And what have you done for this country, little man?"

hahahahah... so typical:)

What have I done, sonny? Only give 30 years of my life and most of my health to it.

What have YOU done?

"villainous little cowards"
Cute line, nitwit. I always found that the very people most accusatory at tossing little lines like this around were in fact the biggest cowards ever. People who have made their bones don't need to talk about it.

What Warner did or did not do in WWII means absolutely nothing. Kerry claims to be a hero, too. CLAIMS.

John Warners military record
Distinguished? "Heroic"

The sum total of his "heroic" military record...

"He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II in January 1945, shortly before his 18th birthday. He served until the following year, leaving as a Petty Officer 3rd Class."

"He joined the Marine Corps in October 1950, after the outbreak of the Korean War, and served in Korea as a ground officer with the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. He continued in the Marine Corps Reserves after the war, eventually reaching the rank of captain."

Not. So. Much.
About the most heroic thing this RINO has ever done is survive a marriage to Elizabeth Taylor.

Get a clue what you're talking about before you engage your mouth.

You know
(1) Energy is demand inelastic. You can double the price, and demand will decrease by a small amount.

(2) Healthy economies are by definition ECONOMIC i.e. they are allocating resources in the most efficient manner.

Damaging a healthy economy to 'save the planet' is like breaking a window to keep the glazier in employment. It appears to work, but the big picture is a net loss.

---------------------------------

If environmentalists were relentlessly pushing realistic alternative energies (e.g. nuclear power, hydroelectric power) then I would have more respect.

Hey, some of them do:

PS: I'm sitting on the fence wrt. man made global warming, as it's irrelevant to the substantive issue, which is that the environmentalist mainstream is anti-solution.

You have to be sensible about things!
We don't need to kill the economy, there are a lot of ways that responsible citizens can help to reduce damage to the earth - and ourselves in the long run. One easy thing is to pick "green" accommodations when available, not just those who say they're doing something, but those who actually are. You can do this through a website I've run across recently, iStayGreen.org, where you not only locate green hotels, but rate them, which puts pressure on hoteliers to do as much as they can to be well rated. Uniquely, the site features a social networking system, so groups with like interests can get together, advise each other and exchange information. It's time something like iStayGreen.org came along.
