"And this is the system that president Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and the vast majority of Democrats in Congress want to emulate!!!!"
You'd think somebody in Congress would already know that this is false. Well, on second thought . . . |

"And this is the system that president Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and the vast majority of Democrats in Congress want to emulate!!!!"
WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
In the Britain's National Health Service, the government owns the hospitals, the labs, the doctors are employees of the government.
I DARE John Campbell, Sean Hannity or Sara Palin to find anywhere in the bills before congress where it says this is what is going to happen.
The hospitals, labs and imaging facilities, nursing homes, etc. will still be owned by for profit companies, or religious organizations.
Doctors, nurses, lab techs, will continue as they do now as either independent practitioners or employees of a hosital or lab.
NO where is there any effort being made to take over control of how medicine is done in the USA.

A feature of the NHS, distinguishing it from other public healthcare systems in Continental Europe, is that not only does it pay directly for health expenses, it also employs a large number of staff that provide them. In particular, nearly all hospital doctors and nurses in England are employed by the NHS and work in NHS-run hospitals.
In contrast General Practitioners, dentists, optometrists (opticians) and other providers of local healthcare, are almost all self-employed, and contract their services back to the NHS. They may operate in partnership with other professionals, own and operate their own surgeries and clinics, and employ their own staff, including other doctors etc. However, the NHS does sometimes provide centrally employed healthcare professionals and facilities in areas where there is insufficient provision by self-employed professionals.
As of March 2005, the NHS has 1.3 million workers, and is variously the fifth largest workforce in the world, after the Chinese Army, Indian Railways, Wal-Mart and the United States Department of Defense.
It should be noted that NHS workforce figures provided by the Department of Health include not only employees of NHS divisions but also local authority social services workers. The full-time equivalent figure for 2005 was about 980,000 staff.
The NHS also plays a unique role in the training of new doctors in the British Isles, with approximately 8000 places for student doctors each year, all of which are attached to an NHS University Hospital trust. After completing medical school these new doctors must go on to complete a two year foundation training programmed to become fully registered with the General Medical Council. Most go on to complete their foundation training years in an NHS hospital although some may opt for alternative employers such the armed forces.

but even conservatives in UK like the NHS, including the likely next PM, David Cameron. So, you in the US best recognize that you are going to lose this fight, soon. |

calm down, friend. The TH types will believe anything they think hurts Obama, leads him to 'fail'. Truth plays no part in their analysis. They would be thrilled to have two or three major US cities nuked, Obama assassinated, bread lines, race violence....just to say 'see, Obama failed'. |

I bought a used car for my daughter.
We went to the DMV, actually here in NJ we call it the MVC (motor vehicle commision)to re-title the car in my name, register it, pay sales tax and get plates/tags.
From the time I walked through the door, to the time I walked back out the door. 10 Minutes.
10 minutes, and I had the new title, registration, and plates in my hand.
I was VERY happy with the service they provided. |
|
I am calm... AND I do know how the THers think.
Anything other than what they hear on fox or talk radio CANNOT be true. No matter what.
I just like to get to these blogs early and present the "other side of the story" or point out the obvious lies.

Too bad more leftist Americans don't attempt to emulate his reasoned, knowledge of our own land.
He loves America more than most of the acid drippers that pass for citizens on the left of our aisle.
British schools do produce graduates that have read western literature and hence can speak.

I like your posts, but assume you are beating your head against the wall.
If TH types showed up in UK and dealt with UK issues the way they do here, the conservatives in the UK would cringe to think they were on 'their' side.
American 'rightwingers' are not conservative...they are reactionary, descended from the KKK, John Birch Society, and they don't even know what that means.
But you are right...our govt truly serves us well, streets, etc. Do they realize, btw, how cheap our US mail is compared to mail in the rest of the world? Try mailing a letter in Italy or the UK, much more expensive. If the USPS raised its rates accordingly, these luddites would go crazy. They want cheap and perfect. |

So instead of a Communist system, where the government owns the means of production, we'll have a Fascist system, where government uses a cut out. Whew. So much better. And that you guys are hanging your hat on that difference, hilarious. |
|
Socialism: any of various theories of economic organization advocating state, public or common worker ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.
Communism: a family of economic and political ideas and social movements related to the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, or stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general.
Fascism: a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition. |
|
"Hannan is an articulate man Too bad more leftist Americans don't attempt to emulate his reasoned, knowledge of our own land."
He is, indeed, articulate, but what is too bad is that more conservative Americans don't emulate his approach and present a reasoned opposition to the various health care propositions being presented. In other words, "It's going to be just like the British!," and "There will be panels deciding whether your grandmother lives or dies," are not reasoned opposition, and just make Americans look silly and ignorant in the eyes of the rest of the developed world - all of whom have had national health care for nearly a century. |

Now that you know what the terms mean...
What kind of system would you consider Medicare?
What kind of system would you consider a Blue Shield HMO?
What is the difference between them?

he would be appalled at the so called logic of the leftist socialist pacifists on this forum. Thank God he can explain things with clear language and is not caught up in socialist blather. Read The Heritage Foundation's analysis on their site. Dems and liberals here have not read the Waxman 1000 page horror. The Foundation has and has questions answered. Do give facts a try instead of emotional support for The One who is defending Waxman because he has no written plan. And the Baucus cobbled together compromise is losing steam as Grassley told us today. The Pubs on that compromise team are starting to pull back because they know this plan is a cover for Obama right before the 2010 election. |

That being Medicare, the 1965 event single handedly responsible for the soaring costs of healthcare, and which gave direct birth to the insurance industry. A well meaning, big hearted and very sincere bleeding heart effort to ease the pain of old people. And, now, you want to kill them. But, I digress. Blue Shield, of course, is a defensive response to the murderous rates Medicare spawned, allowing persons to actually afford to see a doctor, again, an issue caused by the socialist legislation we now fondly call Medicare.
And, please, dictionary definitions are far inadequate to explain a system. You need to read a bit more about Communism and Fascism. You'll conclude the only difference is method. |

Recall a few years ago when a terrorist rammed his SUV through the Glasgow airport? Turns out that terrorist was a Muslim doctor in Britain's NHS.
Part of that story is the NHS was having problems hiring doctors and physicians that they had to import them.
I'm not saying we will have to start hiring terrorist-doctors once nationalized healthcare is forced upon us, but it's still something to think about. |

This is a conservative site. The definition of "fascist," "Nazi," "socialist," and "communist" is always the same: anything I'm opposed to. |

it is the fault of the AMA. They have limited the expansion of med schools in the US for decades. |

Police identified the two men in the car.
The passenger has since been named as Bilal Abdulla, a UK-born doctor of Iraqi descent who was working at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
His religion was given as Muslim.
And Timothy McVeigh was and American computer programmer of Irish descent. His religion was given as catholic.
So what? Terrorists come in all shapes, colors, sexes and religions.

Exeye writes: Why, socialist, of course

Ok.. now tell me what part of production or distribution of health care, does Medicare own or administer?
Does Medicare own hospitals? Does Medicare own labs or clinics? Does Medicare employ doctors or nurses who provide medical care? Does Medicare produce drugs or medical supplies? Does Medicare distribute drugs?

CalVRWC writes:Remember Glasgow
Part of that story is the NHS was having problems hiring doctors and physicians that they had to import them. **********************************************
I don't know who made that up, but a 2 minute search of the net tells a different story.
Bilal Abdullah was born 17 September 1980 in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, where his father, also a doctor, worked.
He qualified in Baghdad in 2004 and first registered as a doctor in the UK in 2006. He was given limited registration by the General Medical Council (GMC) from 5 August 2006 to 11 August 2007.
He worked at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Ward 10, in Paisley as a locum house-officer in the diabetes department, dealing with outpatients at a drop-in clinic and obstetric clinics.
He was not imported.
AS BACKGROUND:
It has been reported that his motive was to avenge the death of a friend killed in the Iraq War by a Shia death squad, hate against the West over Palestine, and that he had been radicalized by the teachings of al Qaeda and al-Zarqawi.
During his own testimony during trial, Bilal said his motivation was the destruction of Iraq, first through sanctions that included even medicine, the rise of childhood leukaemia which he blamed on depleted uranium armour-piercing shells used in the 1991 Gulf War, and for destruction of infrastructure during the U.S. and British 2003 invasion of Iraq. |

Please push on you colleagues to KILL the BILL... There should be zero negotiations on legislation base on false premises and malicious intent.
There is no reform without TORT REFORM... |

proven liar, and as such, it is an absurdity to debate such a one. Carol Platt Liebou, recently authored a thread concerning the death of her physician father. The "lying thing' posted comments in that thread that could only be characterized as being reprehensible. An example should be made of the "lying thing". It should be ostracized and ignored. And then left to slowly, slowly, slowly twist in the wind. |

None of you now a damn thing about the British NHS other than stupid tripe you are fed.
None of you have experienced it.
None of you have looked at the published NHS waiting lists stretching out months.
None of you have seen family members die in an NHS hospital after waiting 15 years for a hip replacement.
I have. All the above. 36 years experience of the NHS. Close family members who worked for the NHS for 25 years. Close friends that have worked in the NHS all their lives.
You have no idea of what you are wishing on the rest of us.
Not one of you will you address the subject of NATIONAL INSURANCE...you know (well, actually no you don't know) the 9.5% tax on EVERY SINGLE pay check. YOu think it's free. You are wrong. You are ignorant.
Thankfully I just got interviewd by a news channel about this so you can report me to the fishmogers at the White House if you want...and then you can go get a clue. |

"But you are right...our govt truly serves us well, streets, etc. Do they realize, btw, how cheap our US mail is compared to mail in the rest of the world?"
You are a moron. How much profit did the USPS make last year? Let me give you a clue, idiot..."The service said it expects to suffer a $7 billion loss for its full fiscal year ending in September." (That was reported last week after losing a mere 2.4 Billion in the last quarter alone).
This is an organization that is exempt from tax. Who on earth do you think funds that $7 billion?
UK letter stamps start at 30p (about 49cents). Oh yeah our mail is soooo much cheaper. And that's only because of the weakening dollar. 3 months ago the equivalent price was about 41 cents.
Funny thing is the British post office had lost money for 25 years until Blair took over. Within 3 years it was losing 250 million a year...not exactly comparable to the 7 BILLION we prop up our service with.
Fool.
So, once again you are proven to be completely IGNORANT or lying as usual. |

Did you attend the health care rally at Centennial Park today?
|

Oh I HOPE we don't wind up like the UK!!! That's an AWFUL place! Their economy is so much WORSE than ours! Their currency is worth so much LESS than our dollar! Their average life expectancy is only 75 years old!!! I don't know what it is in this country... Probably 125, right?
Britain is like, a 3rd world country!!! |
|
Real funny. Don't you think we are bored with that statistic.
How about you quote their income tax rate if you are so enamoured with the place.
Have you ever even been there? Have you ever been in a UK hospital? Have you ever had the misfortune to have to have an operation there? Have you ever tried to run a business there?
Until then your opinion ain't worth squat and is one of pure ignorance like your fellow travellers above. You know NOTHING.

"And this is the system that president Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and the vast majority of Democrats in Congress want to emulate!!!!"
Are TH columnists allowed to flat-out LIE like that?
It really seems to demonstrate the weakness of the right-wing position that they find it necessary. |

That Medicare doesn't own the hospitals? Dude, so far off base center field could pick you off. "Medicare" is a wholly owned subsidiary of...drum roll, please...the US Gummint. The Gummint forces hospitals, doctors, labs, what have you, to be paid for their surplus value of labor based on rates and reimbursements that the Gummint sets in Medicare which, itself, is reimbursed by tax payer money. So, follow me here, private enterprises that would be able to compete and have rates based on market forces that would hold costs to an affordable level have their prices driven artificially set by a gummint entity that uses politics as a measure of cost. Consumers are forced into the government system if they have any hope of acquiring reasonable health care at an affordable rate, and that health care is determined by the entity, not by the consumer, not by the healthcare provider. Ergo, socialism. Downright Fascism. Could even be Communism. Simple determinations as to who "owns" production is a high school argument; reality is far more complex. Get more books out of the library. |

any Bill constituted with the government option is dead. The people have spoken, and spoken, and spoken, and spoken, and spoken. The only way costs can be controlled, will be on those who get sick. Can't cut costs on the healthy. That will overwhelmingly be the elderly. Their care must be rationed, decisions will be based on cost only. Any bill, with the government option in it, will be aimed right at them. Our mothers, our fathers, our grandparents, they have obama's cold stare, right on their backs. Never did i believe that anything like this could actually be considered in America. Europe, Godless Europe, certainly, but here where liberty and freedom have reigned supreme for 232 years, no way! That is until someone, from somewhere, appears on the scene, and with no medical training, no medical degree, and certainly no medical license, is telling America that he can decide who gets what, how much they can get, and if they can get it at all! Who in the hell is he? Indeed, who in the hell is he, anyway! If you leftist actually think this can fly, well you are far more delusional than anyone could have ever imagined. 2010' is not that far off! |
