During last week's budget debate, Republican Rodney Alexander (LA) offered 2 amendments to the budget resolution which added the Clinton and Obama socialized medicine plans to the budget. These amendments were defeated with all Democrats voting No.

Why would Republicans offer such a thing? Not because Republicans want socialized medicine, but because socialized medicine is very very expensive. Clinton and Obama use the same tax increases to pay for their government-controlled health car plans that the House and Senate Democrats are using just to pay for the general spending increases in the general budget. In other words, they are counting the same tax increases twice!

No wonder they voted No.

The budget is a mess already with Democrats proposing the largest tax increase in history even WITHOUT considering the cost of the signature socialized medicine plans of their presidential candidates. Do they want to raise taxes ever higher? They aren't saying. So you should bet on it.

The Only Problem...
...is finding somebody to cover your bet. The government has been taxing us for 75 years for social security and taking the money and spending it while they paid all the benefits with current revenues. If an insurance company did that all their executives would be in prison. Do you think people care? They want their Free Federal Health Care, regardless of the cost. We have a giant program to subsidize ethanol, a fuel that uses more energy to distill than it creates when its used.As a Congressman you know there are hundreds of similar programs. These programs all have very wide support. Ending or reforming them has zero support. This is what the voters want. People that stupid deserve high taxes.

Of course!
With a President who gleefully flushes $12 Billion every month down the toilet of Iraq in a war of choice which has created MORE terrorists, not fewer? Of course our taxes will go up!

By Mz Ireland's logic, we should never have fought back after Pearl Harbor...it lead to kamikazes. A prime example of BDS

Ending Iraq wouldnt solve one penny of the growing budget crisis. The entitlements, the proposed Free Health Care giveaway, the capital flight that will precede the expiration of the Bush tax cuts and the imposition of draconian new taxes under a Dem administration will totally defund the military. In fact the socialist programs people like you support are more damaging to our nation's culture and economy than any of the terrorists you think our policies are breeding now.
TheHistorian writes: Monday, March, 10, 2008 9:24 PM
if we were breeding terrorists
then how come the violence is down and some troops which were put up in the surge are already on their way home? The terrorists we are breeding must not be in Iraq. Maybe in Afghanistan? How about Syria and Iran?

Even entitlements are not the major problem; the problem is that Congress is not willing to control them, but either increases them or allows them to grow unchecked. These are the same legislators that have sworn:

"I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

So what have they done? They continue to refuse to vote on federal judges, the refuse to vote on budgets, and they continue to spend money for entitlements which are, at best, authorized by two words in the preamble, the "common good".

And American voters refuse to take the time to understand how they are being lied to by these people. As an example, you can be jailed for lying to Congress, but members regularly lie on the floor; look at the words which have had to be taken back by Dick Durbin and Harry Reid on the basis of public outrage, but they suffers no legal penalty.

It is time to have 435 new Congressmen and 33 new Senators this year. But voters are generally satisfied with their own representatives, and those are the ones for which they can vote or refuse to vote. Thus the charade continues.

One Last Thing
A couple of years ago the geniuses(D) who run my home state of California decided to raise taxes on the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. Figuring that a hefty rise in the rates would bring in a corresponding amount of revenue they increased spending to match the expected tidal wave of cash. What they got was capital flight, decreasing revenues and a fourteen billion dollar deficit which is leading to huge cuts. The national Dems are even stupider but their stupidity is matched by the Republicans, who refuse to tell the truth about this mess and oppose it, and the voters who are letting their short-term greed betray their long-term best interests.
