Today, the House is voting on a bill to authorize the military's funding for fiscal year 2008. Included in the bill are 680 earmarks. A colleague of mine and fellow RSC member, Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), prepared amendments to debate the merit of some of these requests. The Democrat's blocked him from being able to take any of them to the floor for a vote.

What is there to hide? If these projects are worthy of taxpayer dollars then there should be no hesitation with having an open, healthy debate on them.

How Typical
The Democrats came in promising ethics and sunshine and now hide what their doing just like the Republicans did.

Confused
I'm sorry, but I'm obviously confused here.

I thought that the term earmarks referred to money amendments that were added to bills AFTER they had been passed by the Senate or House.

If the amendments are added to the bill BEFORE it is passed they are normal amendments.

Earmarks
I think Earmarks are any amendments that have nothing to do with the bill at hand. it is any money for their home state.

makes me sick
After 6 years of Republicans setting records for pork, now they pretend that Democrats are bad for doing the same. The hypocrisy makes me sick. Vote third party.
