I have stated many times in the past, that Republicans in the White House and Congress have spent too much.  I have said it since I came to Congress in 2005, and I am saying it again today.  However, the budget, spending, and deficits we are now seeing are almost incomprehensible.  The numbers are so large in fact that we fail to conceptualize them.  In order to help with that, here is a chart from the Heritage Foundation detailing the average federal deficit as a percentage of GDP, for Presidents Carter through Obama.  This graph speaks for itself.

That chart is going to do
nothing more than confuse the drooling drones here who still think the community organizer has a clue!

seems like the worst deficits are
under republican administrations. Who knew!!!!
COLDPLAYLOVER writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 2:00 PM
now, now rock
those were deficits because we were spending money to 'protect' ourselves, missles, etc. Don't you realize that it is totally ok to put our kids and grandkids into horrible 50% inflation and horrible, horrible debt if we are spending that money on guns, and bullets, and F-22's the military doesn't even want, and sword rattling? Health care, food, schools, can't have that! Let those people take care of themselves!

Nutter nonsense on the right. And the Obama 'deficit' is what, 5 months old? Ya think maybe some of it started on the Bush watch?
Exeye writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 2:09 PM
Yep
Had to rebuild the military after you Marxists destroyed it, incidentally resulting in such things as the mullahs taking over Iran, Sandinistas taking over Nicaragua, Noreiga ending up with Panama, terrorist going crazy all over the world (PLO, remember them?). Fixing your mistakes is expensive. But, don't worry, looks like Baracula's intends to beat the record. While destroying the military, natch.

COLDPLAYLOVER: "Nutter nonsense"????
"...started on the Bush watch?" Hey gang, hooohaaa, it's the polycephalic girl/boy/it, loony troll: KayAnn = Rachel, a.k.a., Raelei,
..a.k.a., Julianneeeea, a.k.a., Tao-rhino, a.k.a., Scarlett O'Hairy, a.k.a., Scudmissile, a.k.a., Kimberliar, a.k.a., BDSvictim, a.k.a., Rigoria Mortis.....hmmm, did I miss any??? Probably....several moni-cures before my time.

You gave yourself away, again, with your famous "nutter" nonsense, and, of course, your out-of-control blame "Bush" spew....: Get help for your BDS! Your name changing is really amusing. Unfortunately, you are too mentally dull to realize that a slight adjective modification could make the difference as to an almost immediate drone-detection: try harder to mask your "it is Bush's fault" neurosis.

Hey, Bush, Bush, and Bush = 3 Bushes...are ALL OUT OF OFFICE. Heal yourself. Your "devine one" is NOW culpable for ABSOLUTELY everything. :-).

Look above.....I know you hate it, BUT face your demons: G.W. BUSH (oooh, painful) gave over the reign (sovereign power) to BO w/deficit @ -3.2%, AND, in five (5) short months, your Pubescent Puppet Man w/his sidekick, Mr. Teleprompter, RAN the DEFICIT into the "devil's place" TO A WHOPPING -7.3% and tumbling!!!!!!!

BTW....your new monicure is -7.3% sane: probably incurrable.
rockisback1@yahoo.com writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 3:27 PM
Bea: get an education
you are totally incoherent. By the way, the 7.3 is an estimate (that is what that little est. means) so it is not 7.3 yet.
Exeye writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 3:30 PM
It will be, though
But that's an underestimate. Try 10. 15. 20.
Marty writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 3:46 PM
rock: Clinton did well
under the thumb of a Republican Congress. Congress holds the key to the cash box therefore when Democrats control Congress it makes no difference which party the president blongs to.

So now Democrats control the both houses and the White House which means whatever happens to the economy Democrats will be forced to take resposibility for that.

rockisback: I'm sorry, but I was NOT...
....aware that I was addressing you. But I do see that both you and COLDPLAYLOVER did get your ACORN talking points. "Get an education" = optimal usage when overwhelmed; "incoherent" = abrupt dismissal when brain inundated and totally stressed; "nutter nonsense" = colloquial gutter spew; "Bush" = need for scapegoat; "blame Bush" = desperate for ancillary patsy (victim).

Oh, BTW, did you all, @ ACORN, finally decide to drop your "Rush" insertion into every other sentence? Awwwww, the "Rush" meme didn't work out??? Tooooooo baaaaad doofus!

Only one bit of advice: take a course on proper sentence formation and the appropriate procedure for use of "upper" and "lower" case letters. I think your local 3rd grade (Grammer School) would probably permit you to audit the classes.

TaTa.......have a wonderful life :-).

You sound exactly like Vladdie Boy: he is big on "get an education", and, "*incoherent"..ohh, that is his favorite *word!!!

ColdPlay & Rocksinthehead
You guys give the president too much credit. In reality it's the Congress that bears a great deal of the responsibility of fiscal responsibility.

That's why you see the numbers during Reagan (mostly Democrat Congress) and Clinton (mostly Republican Congress) seemingly confusing. The GOP Congress has lost any fiscal conservatism under Bush - although it got much worse the last two years after the Dems took the majority in Dem Congress.

The disaster we're now seeing is having a big spending liberal in the White House with big spending liberals supporting his agenda in the Congress.

ACORN/troll similarity
You have to admit they are all in a nice lockstep.

Notice whenever the details of a proposed bit of legislation get out to the public and incurr the public's ire, the legislators don't try to make the bill more pleasing to their consituents... THEY JUST CHANGE THE NAME! (Like Waxman-Markey AKA Cap-and-Trade AKA Cap-and Tax AKA the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which is being voted on in the house tomorrow.) They think we're stupid! "Oh, who would vote against 'Clean Energy' and 'Security'?, they say.

Everybody knows all about ACORN's corruption. Rather than change, and get above-board, they CHANGE THEIR NAME. Now they're COI (Community Organizers or Organizations International).

And, when the MCLs are identified and properly ignored, rather than grow up and have dialogue that doesn't involve them saying things like"nutter nonsense", "incoherent", "wingnutters" and "fascist", they CHANGE THEIR NAMES.

You can dress a dead fish up anyway you want but it will still stink.

COLDPLAYLOVER writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 4:59 PM

these people seem very unhinged. It will get worse because Obama has the votes to get just about anything he wants. And he will.

Sorry for the bad sentence.

I meant the nuttiness on the right will get worse, but you knew that. You're smart.
Bea writes: Thursday, June, 25, 2009 5:59 PM
Diane,,,,,Thank you, but there are....
...times when I could s-c-r-e-a-m!!!! They (the trolls) are soooo imbecilic. These catatonic, human calamities are liberals FIRST and Americans SECOND. Unbelievable?????

This is the tragic reality. Unfortunately, these misfortunate trolls do NOT have a clue as to what this wonderful Country provides (diverse freedoms, etc.) vs. ALL OTHER UN COUNTRIES.

Of course, we do have the "GREED" effect. Some, not all, will prostitute their souls for a buck ($$). They are value deprived.

Thank you again, Diane. You are regarded a colleague-in-arms!

Although, I have been involved in politics (locally) for several years, apparently, I was incredibly naive. Until I started to frequent "net" political sites, I realized that a large portion of our population were near equivalent to "Stockholm Syndrome" victims.

The liberals with grandiose promises, somehow, during a particular brain abduction process, have deprived a portion of the American populous of their "common sense". These Americans became emotional hostages....totally attached to their liberal victimizers. Accordingly, they vehemently defend their emotional (political) captors.

To relate the "KISS" analysis: these dopes drink tons of kool aid. :-)

CLINTON DEFICIT
The ONLY reason Clinton's deficit was so low is because he was forced by a REPUBLICAN Congress to balance the budget.

This speaks VERY highly for a split party government . . . the President from one party and the Congress of the other party.

VOTE THE DEMS OUT IN 2010 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Low deficit?
"The ONLY reason Clinton's deficit was so low is because he was forced by a REPUBLICAN Congress to balance the budget."

That's a funny one. At one point did Clinton's "low deficit" turn into a "surplus." It was Clinton who did it, by the way. If Bob Dole had been elected in 1996 and balanced the budget, the GOP would have introduced a constitutional amendment to have him crowned king.
